LOCUM Recovery Room Practitioner Position – Auckland
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Recovery Room Practitioner for a LOCUM position at a leading healthcare facility in Auckland. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring patients' post-operative recovery, managing pain levels, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients emerging from anaesthesia. This role requires extensive experience in post-operative care and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities include monitoring patients' vital signs in the recovery room, administering medications and managing pain, providing support and reassurance to patients, maintaining accurate patient records, adhering to safety protocols, and collaborating with anaesthetists, surgeons, and nursing staff. This is a three-month contract with the possibility of extension, offering competitive hourly rates, flexible working hours, and professional development opportunities.

The ideal candidate will assist anaesthetists in the preparation and administration of anaesthesia for surgeries and procedures, ensuring all anaesthetic equipment is properly maintained and ready for use. This role requires extensive experience in providing anaesthetic support in operating theatres and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Assist anaesthetists in the preparation and administration of anaesthesia for surgeries and procedures. Ensure all anaesthetic equipment is properly maintained and ready for use. Monitor patients’ vital signs and responses during surgery, adjusting anaesthetic levels as needed. Provide post-operative care and support to patients in the recovery room. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records. Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures. Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure seamless patient care.
Required Skills
Diploma in Anaesthetic Technology or equivalent qualification. Registered with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand. Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Anaesthetic Technician. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is highly desirable. Strong understanding of anaesthetic techniques and equipment. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
